Abstract

Spirals of various shapes are very common in our surroundings. Although there are many different types of spirals, in natural formations we notice mostly a logarithmic spiral. Among the molluscs occurring in the Czech Republic, we find several groups forming spiral shells with different ways of arranging threads. Representatives of the family Planorbidae excel in shells whose spirals form threads lying more or less in one plane. From this point of view, they represent an interesting material for mathematical modeling of the shape of the box.
