Remembering Přemysl Šedivý

Abstract

This commemorative article recalls PaedDr. Přemysl Šedivý (1936–2014), an influential Czech secondary-school teacher of physics, mathematics, and descriptive geometry, as well as a textbook author, experimentalist, and long-standing contributor to the Physics Olympiad. The author summarises Šedivý’s teaching career, professional interests, and their connection with many years of collaboration. Particular attention is paid to their joint development of teaching materials, experiments in electronics, the use of computer modelling and the FAMULUS software, and Šedivý’s work on modelling diffraction phenomena. A substantial part of the article is devoted to his contribution to the Physics Olympiad.
